The Corrente Foundation, founded by Ernesto Treccani in 1978, for forty years it has been organizing exhibitions and conferences not only to remember the history of the Movimento di Corrente founded in 1938 - eighty years ago this year - but to investigate the current reality through initiatives on topics ranging from painting to philosophy, from cinema to theater, from architecture to urban planning.

To remember the anniversary, the Foundation showcases its history, which documents an intense season of Milanese cultural life through the exhibition of the archive of photographs taken by Toni Nicolini and Cesare Colombo (from 1978 al 2000) and the archive of posters, the reproduction of video documentaries and audio stations for listening to the recordings of the meetings made since '77, from the first meetings of the Scientific Committee with Ernesto Treccani, Lidia De Grada and artists and intellectuals who have always been friends like Vittorio Sereni, Alberto Lattuada, Mario Spinella and Fulvio Papi, at recent conferences.

Documents are on display, graphics created by Studio Steiner, manuscripts and photographs on conferences made by leading exponents of Italian culture: Raffaele De Grada, Mario De Micheli, Vittorio Sereni, Ernesto Treccani, Zeno Birolli, Riccardo Malipiero, Franco Loi, Mario Spinella, Toni Nicolini, Cesare Colombo, Fulvio Papi, Luciano Anceschi, Dino Formaggio and Paolo Grassi again, Alberto Arbasino, Vittorio Spinazzola, Giancarlo Vigorelli, Lalla Romano, Livio Garzanti, Giulio Einaudi, Massimo Cacciari, Giorgio Napolitano, these are just some of the names of the participants in the initiatives of the Corrente Foundation.

In the space on the basement floor, a selection of more than 100 photo, between reproductions and originals, together with the entire chronology of the activities carried out by 1978 to date. In the space of the library thematic sections tell through documents, posters and texts by critics and scholars, some of the fil rouge of the Foundation's activity: the exhibitions dedicated to the artists of Corrente (Renato Guttuso, Aligi Sasso, Renato Birolli); the line of art critics who have carried out their activity here (Raffaelino de Grada, Mario de Micheli, Zeno Birolli); exhibitions of author photography from engagé reportage to the school of the Italian landscape (Toni Nicolini, Gabriele Basilico, Gianni Berengo Gardin); the study initiatives on modern architecture from the exhibitions on Pagano, Bottoni and Baldessarri at Vittorio Gregotti's conferences; studies on Gramsci's thought and current affairs meetings; the aesthetics seminars organized by Fulvio Papi and Elio Franzini; initiatives related to literary promotion, from the exhibitions on Vittorini to the poetry awards with the participation of Franco Loi; up to the theater meetings, music and psychoanalysis born around the figures of Paolo Grassi, Riccardo Malipiero and Mario Spinella.
